                    Handwritten Invitations:
Labels will always be tacky, but I disagree that invitations "must" be handwritten. Typewriting was considered tacky because this was for business correspondence - but today we have laser printers with beautiful fonts that mimic handwriting (Lucida Handwriting, Edwardian Script) and the engraving that was traditionally used for formal invitations.
What???? is so terrible about running the envelopes through the printer?
Shower Hosts:
Glad to see this go. I could care less who hosts, so long as it isn't the bride herself.
Multiple Showers:
I really don't care if a bride has more than two, so long as the same guests aren't invited to more than one (with the exception of the moms and the wedding party), and if everyone is invited to the wedding. Some brides have large weddings. Big deal if she has four showers.

I agree with all of the above, especially putting envelopes through a printer! I actually think it looks so much better.0

I agree with all of them Retread. And, if I say so myself, my DD's envelopes that were run through a laser printer were gorgeous...0

ditto Retread, also:I had never heard, before joining TK, that shower invitations should go out after the wedding invitations. As long as the host is careful to only invite those that will receive wedding invitations, it's okay.Going into treacherous territory - At home receptions after DWs don't bother me, as long as the couple isn't staging a phony wedding ceremony and the guests know the couple is married. I also think it's fine for the 'bride' to wear her wedding dress to the party. And I'd never turn down a piece of wedding cake.0

I agree with all those posted. The only thing I'd like to add is this: At a celebration of marriage, I don't see why you can't wear the wedding dress again. It's just a dress. My mom eloped in a pink short dress. Her parents threw them a celebration 3 months later. There was nothing WR at all, but she didn't want to wear her pink dress again because it went against etiquette, so she purchased a gray dress (no biggie- she probably wanted an excuse to buy another dress), but I don't see why she couldn't wear her dress again, even if it was a big white one.0

It's fine to wear your dress again, if you wish. Most women wore their best dress prior to the twentieth century, because most women couldn't afford an elaborate gown.
At-home receptions have never been a faux pas. It's the reenactments that are a faux pas.
Labels will always be tacky. Those scream "mass mailout."0
