Wedding Woes

I have too many girlfriends!!

I am having a wedding of 100. Trying to keep it small. But I have so many girlfriends (whom are not invited, because of the small invite list!) that I want to share the best time of my life with! Is it rude to have a small shower for those not invited to the actual wedding! (I didn't plan on having a shower, since most guests are family members from out of town!) Help!!

The shower is supposed to be thrown by someone other than the bride, for the bride. It is not thrown for the guests. Yes, it would be rude to throw your own shower and invite people you are not inviting to the wedding. It's like saying they are not good enough to be invited but are alright enough to get you a gift. Bad form.

<div>Yes. Very. (Regardless of who is throwing the shower.)</div><div>
</div><div>It <em>might</em> be acceptable to throw a completely separate, no-gifts-allowed party for these people, but I'm guessing if you had budget for that, you'd just expand the guest list for the wedding.</div>

  • 1.  I'm drunk, my mind went WAY somewhere else.

    2.  Real answer -- Yes.
  • yes. rude.

what is the problem with having a night out with your friends without the lable of anything wedding related? a shower implies gifts. it is the essence of a shower, and the only reason to have a shower. so their gifts are good enough, but not their presence at your actual wedding. that is what you are going to tell them if you go through with this idea.
