presents

I've budgeted $100 to spend on each bridesmaid (7 of them)... so far I've gotten them monogramed silver plated jewelry boxes from pottery barn (got them on sale). I make jewelry (sell it on etsy and small boutiques)- so I am making them some jewelry as well. I've made them all matching 14k gold filled knot bracelets, and am going to make them either earrings or a necklace (they get to each wear whatever dress they want in a neutral color so depending on what jewelry goes with the dress is what I'll make)- Total so far I've spent $50 per bridesmaid (including jewelry supplies).

My question, is what I've gotten them enough? Its half what I budgeted but since I got the jewelry boxes on sale and I'm making the jewelry... Would you be happy with this gift? A monogramed jewelry box and 2 pieces of 14k godl filled jewelry?

Re: presents

  • I think that's perfect! Is this comething you would tend the give them as a present for say their birthday? I tried to make the gifts personal and not strictly wedding oriented.

I too budgeted about $100 for each BM. I bought them all jewelry (matching necklace and earrings), clutches and a compact for the clutch. All of which I would typically buy as a birthday gift. I'm planning a lunch with the BM's to give them their gifts ahead prior to the wedding.

  • If the jewelry is something they need to wear for the wedding then it's not really a present for them. Just shop for them individually like it's their birthday.
  • I have enough jewelry boxes, so no, I really wouldn't care for that at all. But you know your friends. If they would all like this, it's nice. As Teddy said, jewelry to wear for the wedding isn't really a gift. It's a gift for YOU b/c you want them to wear it in your wedding. You need to take their individual interests into consideration. If this were a birthday or Christmas gift, what would you give? The gifts do not need to be (and usually shouldn't be) all the same.

  • The ladies are wearing dresses they picked out themselves, and the bride is custom-tailoring the jewelry for each lady.  It's not cheap stuff.

This doesn't qualify as the usual "this is stuff for the wedding, so not really a gift."  I agree that it IS a gift, and a very personal one at that, because the bride is matching it to each lady's taste and making it herself.  That's a thoughtful gift.

  • I would be very happy with what you got! I asked each of my BMs what they wanted for a gift and they all said a jewelry would be perfect. So I decided on a necklace. For one they all wear necklaces everyday so I know it would be prefect for them and they said they didn't mind wearing it at the wedding. Each necklace is from ESTY and it personalized for them. The necklace is totally something I would buy for their b-days...
