I've been perusing TK boards today and am also getting constant updates about the two cases at the Supreme Court for marriage equality. May be some monumental changes coming!
I've got my fingers crossed and I've got the equality symbol on my hand because I forgot to wear red! A lot of people down here in the Bible Belt disagree with me, but it's something I'm passionate about.
(I had already taken this to send to a family member )

I wasn't able to wear red because we now have mandatory bright blue scrubs at work, but I'm crazily supportive of this. My best friend is transgendered, so any steps forward on same sex marriage or other non-cisgendered topic are awesome and personal to me.

I'm actually listening to this morning's arguments. SCOTUS usually releases the audio at the end of the week but they are making these arguments available as soon as they are completed.

It bothers me more to hear the argument that this should be left to a vote of the people. We do not vote on eachother's civil rights.

Oh, well listening to a woman at an anti "gay-marriage" rally on C-SPAN around noon, apparently it's the children. They will never know the security of having a loving father watching over them at night or hear the gentleness of their mother's voice during the day and any child of divorce can tell you how detrimental that is. Yep. because there are so many heterosexual divorces, nobody else should be allowed to marry. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around understanding this logic.</div>

Well no wonder I'm so awful, my dad was the nuturing parent and my mom was the disciplinarian, and then they got divorced. Now I'll never know the joy of gender stereotypes. I'm ruined.

<div>Gotta agree with that 100%. It kills me that my mom thinks it will, can't explain, and still won't let her mind be changed. I love her, and my whole family, but it still hurts to watch them stand on the wrong side of history and not realize it.</div>
I'm excited, but nervous about all of this. An equal rights issue shouldn't have even gotten this far into hooplah-ville, but I know we'll do the right thing as a country.

We've done it before, it's our strength as a legal construct. Eventually a minority talon hold on the law gets shaken loose as more and more people realize that it's dumb and unfair. Plus I think most people realize that the nations sshitlist is ever shifting, and itns only a matter of time until they end up on it.
