Hello ladies! We got married on March 16. I wanted to share our experiences with the vendors that we used.

Jessica was fantastic to work with and the cake was DELICIOUS! Everyone raved about the cake. The price was super affordable too, even with delivery charges (we got married in Huntsville and her shop is in NW Houston).

www.kirkmcgee.comMark was awesome. He was super responsive to emails prior to the wedding. He was open to the ideas that we had and pictures that we wanted. He was very personable at the wedding. Yes, he was a vendor, but he made himself comfortable among our guests. He was able to get a lot of great shots because of that. The pictures came out wonderfully. The wedding was on a Saturday and by the following Wednesday we were able to see all of the photos.
Kirk was also great to work with. He is very responsive to emails and phone calls. He was easy to get a-hold of and work with.
Dress: Alfred Angelo

www.alfredangelo.comThey were easy to work with. When I ordered my dress, they told me it would be delivered in 16-18 weeks. I got my dress in about 12 weeks. The dress appointment was great. We were practically the only wedding in the shop when we went on a Sunday. As we were getting done, another bride came in for a fitting, but for the most part it was us and our consultant. The only complaint I have is that they are a bit pricey, but that is not unusual given the industry.
Alterations: The Brass Thimble

Maria at The Brass Thimble is awesome. It is a small shop, so you are in there as the only client most of the time. She is very knowledgeable in what she does. When I went in, I wasn't sure if I wanted a bustle. She showed me about 5 different styles I could have and let me decide. I loved one of them and decided then that I would get the bustle done. She was really affordable too. I spent under $175 for all of my alterations and the bustle. (Alterations: hem, fixed the zipper, sewed a sash onto the dress). She even lightly steamed my dress, which was included in that cost. For a complete steam would have been extra, but my dress didn't need it.
She also did the flowergirl's dress. The alterations for her dress were only $45 dollars. She had a lot of work done because her dress was a couple of sizes too big. (Alterations: hem, took in the straps, and took in the body of the dress). Maria was great in "putting up" with my niece and her constant fidgeting and wanting to know what Maria was doing. I would go back to her again, even for normal everyday clothes.
Flowers and Food: HEB
Rating: A+
Website:
www.heb.comWe only had my bouquet and H's boutonniere, so we just ordered the flowers from them and put everything together on our own. They were easy to work with when ordering the flowers. We didn't have to special order the flowers, but we decided to anyways. The flowers were lovely and lasted for several days.
We did an afternoon wedding, so we only had finger foods at our reception. We ordered the meat and cheese trays from HEB. They came out great and had more than enough food to go around. The prices were super affordable too.
Hair: Trend Setters in Huntsville

Most people probably won't need this one, but I wanted to make sure to put their name out there. I had my hair done by Stacy. She was awesome. I went in with an idea of what I wanted, but I wanted to modify it. She did a fantastic job of taking my vision and making it real. My hair looked great all day. I got my hair done around 11AM, with the wedding at 2PM. I finally took my hair down around 10PM after we had gone out to dinner and were settling in at the hotel. Our wedding day was windy, but my hair held up thru it. The prices were great. I was expecting a lot higher price than what the actual price was ($50).
Table and Chair Rental: A-1 Smith Septic

Another one not many people would need, but they were a great vendor none-the-less. We had our wedding on private property, so we had to rent tables and chairs to be delivered to the location. We rented from A-1 Smith Septic. They were easy to work with. I had to call several times to change our order because of declines. They never made a fuss with me and were pleasant every time I spoke with them. The delivery driver was great. When he dropped of the items, he helped unload them and offered to help set-up. We didn't want to set-up the night before, but he was willing to help if we needed it.
Hotel: La Torretta in Conroe

Website:
www.latorrettalakeresort.com/This is the hotel we went to after our wedding. We had a Groupon deal, so the price was super affordable. The suite we got was outstanding. We had a coffee bar, a sitting area, the room, and a huge bathroom (walk in shower and garden tub). We were right on the water, so the view was good. We had dinner at Yoi Sushi. The food was great and the service was good. The chef was pleasant to talk with. The waitress was really kind and attentive to us. We had coffee at the little shop inside the resort. We had lunch at Prime Dining. It was pretty quiet and the food was good. We also visited the waterpark. It was pretty nice, but the water was quite cold. Even with the cold water, it was a nice lazy day lounging around.
I think those are all of the vendors we used. Some of them aren't applicable to the Houston area, but just in case another bride getting married in Huntsville comes over here I've included them.
